Curriculum

At Community Preschool of Cedar Grove, we believe children should learn through play and creativity. We make learning child’s play!

At Community Preschool of Cedar Grove, we aim to teach our students the following skills:

  • Recognition of the upper and lowercase alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors
  • Name writing, address and phone number(s)
  • Letter Sounds – Pre-reading readiness skills, vocabulary,  language development and communication
  • Fine Motor Skills – Cutting and gluing through art and manipulative toys, as well as correct pencil grip and prewriting skills
  • Gross Motor Skills – Climbing, bike riding, playing on the playground
  • Social Skills – Learning to interact with other children, sharing, respecting others, taking  turns, resolving conflict and learning manners
  • Listening Skills – Learning to listen and follow directions
  • Math Skills – Recognizing patterns, sequences and graphing
  • Science Concepts – Understanding the weather, seasons, as well as cause and effect through experiments
  • Social Studies – Learn about history through holidays and current events
  • Music Appreciation – Singing, dancing and playing musical instruments
  • Community Awareness – Learn about the roles people play as helpers in our community through field trips and in-house presentations
  • Dining Skills – setting tables, pouring, cleaning up, meal time management
  • Personal hygiene – proper hand washing, learning about germs
